- Meeting was started at 7pm at the Colonial Restaurant. Ryan ran the
meeting as moderator.
- First item was the election of officers for the 2006 meeting. The
nomination committee presented the list of potential officers and the
list was approved by those members in attendance. The new officers are:
- President: Ryan DesRoches
- Vice President: Tammi Coady
- Secretary: Randy Wade
- Treasurer: Ron Kokernak
- Board of Directors: Alan Peterson, Steve Garrity,
Jim Kokernak, Robbie Green, Rhoda Kaczmarek.
- A vote was taken to re-establish the Junior Board of Directors. The
age of the Junior Board was changed to go from 12-18 years of age. An
election of then Junior Board of Directors will take place at the next
meeting at the Ski Club Shack in June.
- Dues were addressed and discussed. Due to rising expenses (i.e. gas)
and the poor profit at the Car Show last October, the dues were raised
by a unanimous decision to $60 for the first member, $30 for each additional
member in a family with a cap of $150 per family.
- Ryan brought up a new formal behavioral/safety proposal to the meeting.
A formal document was deemed necessary after some members complained
about the younger members behavior at the shack, as well as a incident
of vandalism to club equipment occurred during the 2005 season. The
rules were accepted pending a few minor changes. All members will be
required to sign the new behavior policy and punishments can be handed
out by boat drivers and the board of directors. Randy Wade took the
initiative to make the adjustments to the rules as directed at the meeting.
Once the rules are done, Ryan will have a sign made for the shack that
outlines these rules.
- Starting this year - a responsible person will be in charge of managing
the shack and sign up sheet. This is to make sure that everything runs
smoothly on shore during ski club hours. A new signup sheet policy was
also discussed to make thing fairer to all skiers.
- June 5th was voted to be the official start of the ski season. Ski
dates will be Mondays and Thursdays until June 26th. After June 26th
- The ski nights will be expanded to Mondays/Tuesdays and Thursdays.
The Club will NOT be skiing on Monday July 3ed, or Tuesday July 4th
due to the holiday.
- A Swimming area will be created this year to allow members to swim
while maintaining a safe distance from the boats and skiers coming into
the docks. A Buoy marker will mark the safe areas to swim on the right
side of the docks.
- The Ski club will be capped at a 40 member membership this year.
- A New Equipment borrowing policy was discussed. If a member wishes
to borrow a piece of equipment, he must have authorization from a Board
member and must return the equipment before the next ski night. A In/Out
Sheet will be posted in the shack shack for this purpose.
- New Docks were donated to the club this year. Some assembly will be
required though. The Cleanup day/Dock put in day will be Saturday, May
13th at 9am.
- The club will once again be putting in docks for Doctor Patell this
year - they will also be put in on May 13th. Dr Patell has agreed to
give the Club $600 for putting in and taking out his docks this year.
- Car Show Results: The Costs were higher this year - topping out at
$786. The receipts were lower this year than i year past - topping out
at $1030, giving us a profit of $244 - far below the clubs $600-700
average over the last five years for this fundraiser.
- Tammi brought up the the Carlton Ski Club is looking for volunteers
to help them with their 50th anniversary show - as they are trying to
get 50 skiers up behind a boar at one time! The Nipmuc Ski club will
be offering our members to help them achieve this goal. The show will
take place on August 19th. More details will be coming soon!
- The Club has agreed to buy a new wake board and knee board for the
shack. Robbie Green will be purchasing the knee board and wake board
for us.
- Rhoda has agreed to look into getting us T-Shirts and Hooded sweatshirts
for the Ski Club this year.
- Meeting concluded at 9pm.
